Clare became interested in chiropractic when her brother suffered a sports injury and was successfully treated with chiropractic. Clare continues to attend post-graduate courses including paediatric, sports chiropractic, and care of the elderly, and she has successfully treated patients from new-born to 102 years of age.
Clare uses a wide range of techniques including joint manipulation, soft tissue work, SOT and rehabilitative exercises. Her experience and care has brought relief to patients from all walks of life whether acute or chronic and have confirmed her belief that everyone can benefit from chiropractic care.
In 1994, in order to obtain Registration of Chiropractors, Clare Metcalfe invited her local MP to visit Beckenham and Bromley Chiropractic Clinic. He was so impressed with the clinic he decided to support a private members’ bill. Clare has been ‘immortalised’ in Parliamentary history in Hansard and we now have the General Chiropractic Council.
Clare was invited to write an article for the Parliamentary Review based on her 38 years as a Chiropractor and her contribution to the profession. Only a select number of professionals are given this honour each year.

LAURA SIMMONS DC, MChiro (Hons), LRCC.
Laura Simmons is an Associate Chiropractor and joined the clinic in 2017. She graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic with a first and is a member of the British Chiropractic Association as well as a Licentiate Member of the Royal College of Chiropractors. She is registered with the General Chiropractic Council.
Laura decided to become a chiropractor having seen the benefits of chiropractic care first-hand from a young age. Laura felt that chiropractic gave her the opportunity to support patients throughout the whole recovery process, giving them the help they need to get back to their daily lives.
Laura is experienced in working with sports people, having worked with Bournemouth University to treat and prevent sports injuries. This involved working with a wide range of athletes, treating injuries as well as working to enhance performance and encourage injury resistance.
Laura enjoys working with a wide range of patients from paediatric patients to the elderly. Having been a part of a combined midwifery-chiropractic clinic focusing on addressing feeding difficulties, Laura is keen to support mothers throughout pregnancy and treat the paediatric patient. Laura has done additional training in both pregnancy and paediatrics.
With many of us spending increasing hours using technology and having sedentary jobs and lifestyles, Laura has been involved in carrying out workplace ergonomic assessments to help reduce back pain, neck pain and tension headaches through better workplace set ups.
Laura continues to attend post-graduate courses focusing on her interests and treats patients of all ages helping them out of pain and addressing the root cause to aid injury prevention.
